Between two Waters

I went to bed with the vision in my mind of the beautiful full moom raising over the clouds last afternoon and with flamenco music in my ears . Andalucia is the craddle of flamenco music and Paco de Lucia is their beloved son . In 1982  I met Paco de Lucia the first time he went to Peru , that magic night he discovered an ancient African - Peruvian instrument , the Cajon or Peruvian drum , he introduces the Cajon to Flamenco music and to the entire world . Paco died of heart attack in a beach in Mexico a couple years ago . In Spain I rented a car and I drove down to the town he was born , I been  in many places driving around South Spain , Malaga ,  Granada , Marbella , Puerto Banus , Gibraltar ,  going  around old small  towns surrounded by the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea , old farmers markets , taverns and peaceful beaches , I been in a Festival in Jerez de la Frontera , they make the best Sherry Wine in Spain , Tio Pepe or Uncle Pepe  is their famous brand , so I felt like in home over there , I saw the blue  sea in a sunny day in Cadiz where the Mediterranean  meet the Atlantic Ocean in front of the coast of the little gypsy town of Algeciras when Paco and his brothers were born and learned to play guitar before to read and write  from their father , an street and bohemian flamenco guitar player . I visited the number 8 of San Francisco St where he was born and raised and drove  back to Marbella breathing that salty air and feeling the sweet flavor of sherries still in my mouth  .  " Between  two Waters " " Entre dos aguas "  song is an homage from Paco de Lucia to the town he grew up . He took the Gypsy music from the streets of South Spain to the best stages around the world . Definitely Paco is my playlist.
